No vote for you!

EU finance ministers tell Greece, “NO VOTE FOR YOU!”

no soup for you!

The council of EU finance ministers said Athens must comply with austerity demands by March 16 or lose control over its own tax and spend policies altogether. It if fails to do so, the EU will itself impose cuts under the draconian Article 126.9 of the Lisbon Treaty in what would amount to economic suzerainty.

While the symbolic move to suspend Greece of its voting rights at one meeting makes no practical difference, it marks a constitutional watershed and represents a crushing loss of sovereignty.

And of course, this is being led by the Germans who would probably prefer that the EU just kick Greece out now.

Some German officials have called for Greece to be denied a vote in all EU matter until it emerges from “receivership”.

+1 to the Telegraph’s International Business Editor, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, for using the word suzerainty in her article.

Here’s a link to one of today’s most important stories that you probably didn’t read.

Bomb blast hits J.P. Morgan building in Greece

This is nothing more than blatant terrorism but it should serve as notice that we’re in an increasingly hostile situation with regard to the fallout from the credit crisis and sovereign debt issues.

(Or for the conspiracy minded among you, this is simply the first step for Greece and the EU to create a tidy little police state on the Mediterranean. At least the beaches are lovely.)

Hmm. What is that? Is that shit on the fan? No…it couldn’t be.

If you have guests coming to Richmond that need a hotel, I can highly recommend Hotel Sierra at Short Pump Town Center.

Hotel Sierra at Short Pump Town Center

Anitra and I stayed here over the weekend in a well furnished, modern King suite, complete with a full kitchen, overlooking Short Pump Mall.

The staff was professional and courteous and although the rack rate on the room is ridiculously high ($595), rooms are available from $85 to $120 a night. The facilities are in great shape too including the spa, pool, fitness center, bar, and breakfast area. It’s definitely worth checking out if you have friends of family coming to the area that need a hotel room.
