letsgetthisright.com gets it wrong

From the “What not to put on your website’s home page” department:

1. Under construction messages
2. Really STRANGE features like the one in bold below (although from a technical viewpoint, I am interested in how they accomplished this)

What are you selling???

Oops. Someone must have glossed over the fact that their domain name could be read as “retail the rape”.

Get fired Friday

imageWant to get fired the easy way? Have your boss or HR staff find a photo of you in a compromising situation.

Of course, there’s no need to actually put yourself in that situation and that’s where getyourselffired.com comes in.

Simply choose your situation, upload a photo of yourself and ta-da, you’re ready to get fired!

Once that’s done, job search site itzbig.com hopes you’ll stop to find your next job.

What are you looking at Mr. Vice President?

Now that’s handy.

One Gallon Axe

Hell yeah - the return of the rock anthem!

Feast your eyes on the latest from White Gold (sure, it’s an ad for milk - but let’s leave aside that pesky detail for the moment). It’s milktastical! It’s the kind of thing you want to listen to when hanging out with Zaphod Beeblebrox and drinking Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters.

(and is it just me or do you think the bass player is a hotter, younger version of Oprah?—did I just write that??!)

Photoshop for FREE!

Did you hear? Adobe is launching a FREE version of Photoshop online! How awesome is that?

Wait though...not so fast. You may want to review their terms of service first—particularly this troublesome little note about you granting them full rights to use your content any way they darn well please.

Thanks but no thanks, Adobe.

Adulterated Fish Filets

That sounds so wrong.

Oh Mr. Gorton’s Fisherman, what DID you do to those little fish? Can we still “Trust the Gorton’s Fisherman”?

100 Years of All Stars

Boston.com put together a good multimedia piece about Converse shoes and the company’s 100th anniversary this year.

Who doesn’t love a pair of Chucks?

Megatron busted for meth

Megatron

Being the evil leader of the Decepticons isn’t what it used to be. New Zealand’s The Dominion Post reports that on Friday, Megatron was sentenced to six years and six months in jail for importing ecstasy and conspiracy to import methamphetamine.

Megatron Eardley-Wilmot, originally named Nicholas, legally changed his name after an accident left him with a serious head injury.

Electronic contact lenses

electronic contact lens

Who do you think will get these first? The military or Xbox gamers?

Researchers at the University of Washington managed to embed an electronic circuit and LEDs directly into contact lenses, which seemed to look good on rabbit eyes. Though the circuit is not functional and the lights don’t light up, the development shows that future applications like direct video to the eye may indeed be possible.
