Clio - my musings

Going topless

Get your mind out of the gutter. We’re talking convertibles here.

Two weeks ago, I stopped by Crown MINI on a whim to drive an ‘05 MSC and and MC convertible. We had a dusting of snow on the ground and the temperatures of only 34 degrees - perfect weather for a top-down drive.

...and that was that. All I could think about was the warm weather ahead and the family cruising with the top down, sun shining, tunes blaring. It brought back memories of driving around in my dad’s Austin Healey after he taught me how to drive it.

So yesterday, we said goodbye to the MCS and traded it in on...well, pretty much the exact same car - but with no top. Sir Alec is still with us...he’s just wearing a new hat.

I had forgotten that sense of excitement on seeing only 15 miles on an odometer. Ah the adventures ahead! 200 miles on an May trip to the beach. 300 miles on a June drive to the Blue Ridge Mountains. 10,000 miles on a journey to nowhere in particular.

Lao Tzu said, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” For my family, every journey begins with lowering the top on the MINI and a full tank of gas.

Did I mention that it is supposed to get up to 65 degrees today?
