Last night I attended an all hands meeting for the 4 local Red Cross DAT groups (Disaster Action Team) as well as Richmond’s DMT (Disaster Management Team). What an amazing group of people.
I’ll be assigned to one of the DAT teams soon and I’m looking forward to the upcoming, aggressive training schedule that’s being finalized this week, including several disaster tabletop exercises.
We also had an opportunity to tour the national disaster preparedness warehouse, a new 200,000+ square foot, climate controlled warehouse for supplies needed during regional and national disasters. Most impressive!
Because it’s important to prepare for possible disasters and other emergencies, the Red Cross offers several emergency preparedness checklists. If you’re not ready, please download the checklist and plan to spend an hour so so this weekend to get prepared.
